welcome to “venice”

January 30, 2011

Salutations and welcome to venicethemovie.com – the repository of all things involving the eventual production of what is to be my first feature film, “venice”. Although it is the seemingly more professional way of going about it, I, Phil Donohue, will not be referring to myself in the third person as if someone else is writing this. No, I will be the sole writer of these blog posts that are designed to inform interested parties on all developments regarding “venice” and hopefully elicit your support for the film.

The synopsis of the film is relatively simple; the story of a man, who comes home for the holidays, after a long period of absence, and finds himself, out of boredom and nostalgia, breaking into the homes of girls he used to like.

The overarching point of the website is to demonstrate that a film is much more than a log line and to show this by supplementing the script in a way that a newcomer to the material can understand the visual palate, tone, and directorial intentionality of “venice” Some people might call it the “meat and potatoes” – I most certainly would not but I won’t pass judgment on those who find the analogy apt.

For further depth on my intentionality in regards to “venice”, look no further than my Directorial Statement found here.
